★ Character Information ★
Character Name: YoRHa No. 9 Type S
Character Age: 3 (appears roughly 19)
Character Species: Android
Current Health: Optimal
Outfit: YoRHa Uniform, although his pack is empty and he is weaponless.
Character Canon: NieR: Automata
Link to History:
In 9S's time, much of the history of the world had already been written. Humanity had made contact with alien life forms, which had brought an inexplicable disease which caused humans to die in record numbers. So the story goes, the survivors of humanity took off to go live on the moon - but that was a lie. Humans have become completely extinct.
To sell this lie, is a fictional council programmed by androids to give hope and purpose to other androids. They routinely receive orders from the Council of Humanity, and everyone has a role to play. Initially the goal was to restore humanity once they took care of the aliens, but it was not the androids who were able to fight them off but rather the machines the aliens built. They would develop sentience, rise up and overrun the planet.
YoRHa was developed to fight off the machines and aliens, so the planet could be reclaimed for humanity's survivors. 9S is a YoRHa agent, and he believes the story he's been fed. As a scanner, he's naturally too curious for his own good, but since his core is made from machines he neglects to hold the same rights as other androids outside the organization.

★ Folkmore Roles & Attributes ★
Skills:
*Combat
Canon Abilities:
*Combat/Weaponry: Although this is a skill 9S had to actually learn, he can equip a weapon and use it to attack. He's slow, and not that strong, he's not very good at close range combat. He operates his weapon with telekinesis.
*Hacking: 9S can hack into all kinds of technology, including machines. He can execute any self-destruct orders on machines to cause massive damage, or even take control of them. He can also hack into databases to gather information.
*Pod Programs: 9S can command a pod to fight with him, as well as use it to cushion his fall from a big height. *Requires a pod
*Evade/Counter: Specific maneuvers he can do in combat.
*Self-Destruct: 9S can perform a self-destruct attack that deals a massive amount of damage and brings him to the brink of death. It also destroys his clothes.
*Black Box: This attack is big enough to level several city blocks, but it also destroys 9S completely.
*Telekinesis: 9S can move objects and hold them in place through telekinesis. He rarely does things with his own hands, preferring to keep them free for hacking.
*Blindfold: The blindfold allows him to interface with his hud much easier. He usually has access to a database through the network, and has communication capabilities, as well as customization options. It allows him to engage his other senses to 'see'. He does not lose functionality when it is removed, and gains enhanced more realistic vision.
Role: Myth
Role Qualities/Attributes: Horns, fangs and claws.
Role Reasoning: 9S doesn't know it yet, but he's slowly poking holes into YoRHa's system. He's programmed to be so curious that inevitably it turns back on the organization itself, but the benefit seems to outweigh the risk - and to that end he's been assigned 2B after all. 9S is going to destroy YoRHa completely, with the help of a virus. He's also going to later lash out and kill machines indiscriminately when he's finally reached his breaking point, as it dawns on him just how much he's been lied to.
★ Personality ★
OPTION 2 QUESTIONS (PICK 4-5) 100-300 WORD LIMIT EACH:
It's really a toss up between being consistently a victim of assassination and the subsequent erasing of his memory to the point that it's lightly corrupted. 9S finds himself in a very short cycle where he gets completely reset, finds himself poking into places he shouldn't be and then getting executed by 2B in various different deaths including accidents where he wasn't saved, strangulation and being stabbed and losing fluid until he stops moving. In the three years he's been alive he's been murdered 48 times by 2B, and died in various other ways aside from that. This works out to an average assassination success once every 3 weeks.
Initially there's little change because his memory gets wiped every single time, but each memory wipe is leaving behind a trace and come to his canon point he's beginning to discover he has unknown and untapped personal data saved in his memories, and he's accessing files in regards to YoRHa that are concerning. He doesn't know what to make of them. It affects 9S by giving him deep unexplained emotions towards 2B that he does not fully understand. He mistakes it as love alone at first, but it's also hatred. He learned to fight partially because 2B wanted him to fight back. He was to kill her as much as he loves her and beyond his canon point this cycle will completely tear his psyche apart - but for now he's still stable.
His deepest and most defined relationship is with his executioner and friend 2B. They spend vast amounts of time together, even though he's a Scanner and he's supposed to work alone. He thinks of this as a happy accident that he gets to work with someone he's so close to. He spends time talking with her and chattering about what they see and what they're doing. She brings him comfort - until she doesn't. He may harbour romantic feelings at time, but as his psyche gets bits and pieces of data left behind from the many memory wipes, it turns into a desperate hatred, and a desire to kill her for what she keeps doing to him.
His only other semi-close relationships are with 21O, his operator who he constantly teases with his informal language even though he knows that's dangerously close to feeling, something he's forbidden from doing. He's also close to his pod, Pod 153. He's friendly and grateful with the lesser machine, often sharing fistbumps when they succeed in combat.
9S has dreams of living a very content, normal life. He dreams of the war ending and getting to do human-like things like window shopping with 2B. He also hopes and wishes to meet the humans he's spent his entire life thus far protecting because he just wants to know so much more about them. Their data files are incredibly incomplete. His nightmares surround him dying in various ways, things that have actually happened whether he remembers them or not.
9S will never got a normal, content life. The war will never end. He's being deceived and while other androids have permission to live their lives as close to humans as they'd like, because he has a machine part by design, this will not be granted to 9S. There's the very likely possibility he'll continue the cycle of dying.
9S is in the most dangerous position in that he has nothing to lose. He doesn't presently think of his potential, because that kind of thing is not permitted, but we do know that he will eventually say screw it to the entire system and help its destruction. Although in the end he doesn't have to do much, he will give up his sanity in an effort for revenge or some desperate act to have the world right on its axis. At the moment, he wants a peaceful future and he's willing to fight for it. When 2B dies and YoRHa falls, he will want the destruction of everything - giving up his dreams and sanity in the process. Learning of the extinction of humans will break him. He has some of the pieces already, all he's missing is the connecting thread. At that point, it's hard to go back.
